Modernite ve Anthony Gıddens'ın modernite anlayışı

Abstract

On yedinci yüzyılda Avrupa'da ortaya çıkan modernite, zamanla tüm dünyaya yayılmıştır. Modernite, hem bireysel hem de toplumsal anlamda büyük değişim ve dönüşümlere yol açmıştır. Küresel anlamda bu denli etkileri olan bir gerçeklik, birçok açıdan insanların inceleme nesnesi haline gelmiştir. Literatür taraması yöntemi ile hazırlanan bu tezimizde, modernite, moderniteye zemin hazırlayan etmenler ve Giddens'ın moderniteye yönelik fikirleri ve çalışmalarının analizi amaçlanmıştır. Tezimiz iki bölümden oluşmaktadır. İlk bölümde aydınlanma, Avrupa devletlerinin aydınlanması, akılcılaşma, modernizm, modernleşme ve modernite ele alınmıştır. Ayrıca Marx, Durkheim ve Weber'in moderniteye yönelik fikirlerine değinilmiştir. İkinci bölümde ise İngiliz toplumbilimci Anthony Giddens'ın moderniteye yönelik fikirlerine değinilmiştir. Bu bağlamda devletin modernleşmesinin sonucu olarak ortaya çıkan ulus devlet, modernliğin küreselleşmesi ve modernliğin insan hayatı üzerindeki etkisi irdelenmiştir. Bu çalışmamızda Giddens'ın diğer sosyologlardan farklı olarak moderniteyi bir açıdan değil, birçok açıdan ve bütüncül olarak ele aldığı tespit edilmiştir. Giddens, hem bu amaçla hem de düalist yapıların sebep olduğu tartışmalara son vermek için yapılaşma kuramını geliştirmiştir. Modernite, Marx'a göre kapitalizm, Weber'e göre rasyonalizm ve Durkheim'e göre sanayileşme sürecidir. Ancak Giddens'a göre bunların her birinin modernitenin bir yönü olduğu ve Giddens'ın moderniteyi çok yönlü olarak ele aldığı belirlenmiştir.

Modernity, which emerged in Europe in the seventeenth century, spread all over the World overtime. Modernity has led to great changes and transformations, both individually and socially. A reality that has such a global impact has become the object of people's investigation in many respects. His thesis has been prepared by literature review method. Inourstudy, it is aimed to analyze modernity, the factors that pave the way for modernity, and Giddens's ideas and studies on modernity. Our thesis consists of two parts. In the first part, enlightenment, enlightenment of European states, rationalization, modernism, modernization and modernity are discussed. In addition, the ideas of Marx, Durkheim and Weber on modernity are mentioned. In the second part, the ideas of British sociologist Anthony Giddens on modernity are mentioned. In this context, the nation-state that emerged as a result of the modernization of the state, the globalization of modernity and the effect of modernity on human life were examined. In this study, it has been determined that Giddens, unlike other sociologists, does not deal with modernity from one perspective, but from many perspectives and holistically. He developed the theory of structuring both for this purpose and to put an end to the debates caused by düalist structures. Modernity means capitalism according to Marx, rationalism according to Weber and industrialism according to Durkheim. However, according to Giddens, each of these is an aspect of modernity and modernity should be handled in a multi dimensional way.
